The Miami Dade College Hospitality Institute is excited to invite you to their upcoming Job Fair and Career Booster on Friday, August 7, 2015. Miami’s peak tourist season is here – and they can connect you to the employees you need!  To date, they have delivered training to over 2000 participants and have placed over 700 people into jobs.

The Job Fair and Career Booster will be held on Friday, August 7, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church located at 245 NW 8 Street in downtown Miami. There is free parking in the church lot.

The graduates of their Job Readiness Training Program will be in attendance to meet with employers and discuss job opportunities. They are counting on you to make this event a success.

Greater Miami & The Beaches Hotel Association Visit Miami International Airport

Many thanks to Emilio T. González, Ph.D., Director & Chief Executive Officer, Miami-Dade Aviation Department and his team for inviting the GMBHA Board of Directors and member hotels to an meeting at the Miami International Airport. There are many exciting happenings at the airport and with many exciting routes announced, such as the daily Turkish Airlines Miami to Istanbul flight starting October 25th, 2015.

GMBHA and Hospitality Partners Participate in a White House Business Roundtable on New Americans

GMBHA and our Hospitality Partners were invited to participate at a White House Business Leaders roundtable on New Americans. Thomas E. Perez, Secretary of Labor, Cecilia Munoz, Assistant to the President and Director of the Domestic Policy Council & Felicia Escobar, Special Assistant to the President for Immigration Policy provided updates on the White House Task Force on New Americans, including key initiatives to build welcoming communities, provide citizenship, public awareness, and support skill development of new Americans. We were joined by our hospitality partners Namara Mercer, Executive Director, San Diego County Hotel-Motel Association; Mike Staples, President, San Diego County Hotel-Motel Association; David Folkeson, Director of Sales & Marketing, Loews Madison Hotel; Malou Harrison, President, Miami Dade College North Campus.

Since our partnership began with the New American Workforce, we are very thrilled to announce that now we have over 24 GMBHA hotel members participating in the program. Over 4,000 employees have received outreach and education and over 200 employees and family members are new American Citizens.
