Academy of Hospitality & Tourism Groundhog Day

On Monday, February 2nd, 2015 the GMBHA team hosted two Miami Beach High School students that are a part of the Academy of Hospitality & Tourism (AOHT) program. The students alongside our two interns from Education First (EF) Language School were treated to a tour of two very special Miami Beach boutique hotel properties – Dream South Beach & Clevelander South Beach. Many thanks to Peggy Benua, General Manager, Dream South Beach and Annie Borges, Director of Human Resources, Clevelander/Essex House Hotels for hosting us.

Cadet Hotel Miami Beach is looking for a Bartender!

The Bartender is responsible for providing the highest quality of service to guest in an attentive, courteous and efficient manner. The Bartender is also responsible for receiving and delivering guest orders and collecting payments. Responsible for the proper accounting and recording of all beverage sales while ensuring that the pouring measures are being followed according to standard operating procedure. Ensures that Bar Stations and storeroom are kept neat and organized.

Serve food course and alcoholic beverages to guest
Suggestively sell beverages and menu items; take orders
Answer guest questions, make recommendations, up-sell liquors
Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards.
Utilize the Point of Sales system to accurately account for and process all orders
Request identification from any guest who appears to be under 30 years of age
Remove dirty glasses, dishes, including lifting/moving of bus tubs up to 25lbs.
Keep tables & bar counter clean at all times.
Maintain complete knowledge of all liquor brands, beers, and non-alcoholic selections, correct glassware and garnishes
Maintain behavior consistent with sexual harassment/hostile work environment policy dictated in the Team Member handbook.
Reports to work as scheduled, in proper uniform, in accordance with the company’s personal appearance standards
Applies excellent guest relations skills when interacting with guests
Observes hotel telephone etiquette, message, and call handling procedures
Special projects and duties as assigned

English speaker. Spanish language is a plus
Able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays; Ability to work late hours
Working Knowledge of basic food service, responsible alcohol service, drink recipes and garnishes, point of sales systems
2 years work experience interacting with people in a positive environment
Tolerance of all cultures
Responsible Alcohol Awareness Training Certification or Equivalent
Ability to deal with intoxicated guests in a positive and safety minded manner
Promotes and applies teamwork skills at all times
Is polite, friendly, and helpful to guests, management and fellow Team Members
Complies with hotel uniform and grooming standards
