I am proud to serve on the Miami Dade College’s Miami Culinary Institute Business Advisory Council and a member of Les Dames d’Escoffier Miami. We are delighted to partner together to celebrate the anniversary of Julia Child’s 100th Birthday on September 15th, 2012. A portion of the net proceeds will benefit Les Dames d’Escoffier Legacy Awards and MDC Miami Culinary Institute’s Scholarship Fund.
The largest event, the birthday bash, will feature our top chefs from various restaurants and hotels. Please review all of the wonderful events throughout the day HERE and we look forward to seeing on September 15th.
I had the amazing opportunity to serve as keynote speaker for the first Learning Skills for Life, a job readiness training, certification and internship program, graduating class. The program, launched on June 1st, 2012, is an innovative community outreach initiative recently developed by Diageo Latin America & Caribbean, Inc., in collaboration with FIU Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management. Learning Skills for Life is designed to provide educational and vocational opportunities and life skills for underserved members and war veterans of the diverse South Florida community.
Special thanks to our partners at the GMCVB, FRLA, our hospitality community who participated in internship opportunities and job placement, and our community agencies provided the opportunity to the 49 participants.
